Pedal Tension: Does it only apply when clipping out?
I have Shimano SPDs M520s, which has an adjustable tension on it.
If I higher the tension, does it only apply when clipping out? What I mean is does it only make it 'harder' to clip out? Does it affect how hard it is for the shoe/cleat to accidentally disengage by pulling straight up?
It will affect both clipping in and the release tension. You can start out with less tension and see how you like it. If you disengage accidentally you can increase the tension. The sideways motion to disconnect feels about the same.
