Comparison of Park Tool PCS-9 to the PCS-10 Bicycle Repair Stand
Park Tool PCS-9 Home Mechanic Bicycle Repair Stand was and is a popular stand. The PCS-10 came later and is also very good reviews scoring, if not better. I buy a lot of research on the two to find what the right business and here is a comparison for those who do the same now, or forward to a good bike stand.
Both are stable. You will be surprised to see they are robust then them in the pictures. Both the clips will rotate 360 degrees to help you turn your bike at any angle while working allowed on it. Both are the same height set, if desired, which is big enough to take your bicycle needs tinkering. Both fold up, so they are taken away or in another location better than the non-portable repair stands that require a parking space in the garage. You can also keep both bikes with odd-shaped tube, if you're one of them odd tubes Kind of guys are.
In short, PCS-10 is the same kind of bike repair stand with all the same features, but it is sporting some upgrades. Of course you have to love upgrades. I try not too much into the bells and whistles to capture all the next-generation product, unless I need it, but for the most part, I would not say that these new features come fully into this category. The upgrades seem well have to take a popular product of the PCS-9 and thought he turned it in an even simpler and easier to use tool. Getting a robust bicycle repair stand is in itself make life easier by far for your bicycle repairs at home. The PCS-10 is ready to do more.
Here is an evaluation of upgrades to the PCS-10:
1. Quick Release Terminal
The PCS-9 repair stand, hold the wheel with one hand while slowly closed the terminal screw. It is much easier and faster with the Clamping action of the PCS-10. The quick release also sports a couple of his own good qualities that I feel are worth mentioning:
- Clamp pressure is fully adjustable
- the jaw covers are replaceable, which basically means the PCS-10 was a good chance of lasting you stand by your bike life.
As one critic put it:
"I went ahead and chose this (PCS-10) over the less expensive Park Tool PCS-9 Home Mechanic Work stand the quick-release clamps, which I recommend to get, at least you want to spend your time working on the bike, not the state, and again on the street or road, and not right? Every little bit of frustration and effort saved helps. "
Fair enough.
More second Portability
Both down can be folded to put away and moved around, but the PCS-10 weighs slightly less than the PCS-9, so it's a little more bearable. Both are not as easy as some bicycle repair shop as can be, but the lighter ones will never be as stable and the heavier will never be sustainable. So Park Tool tries to get a good balance with these two items and make a great job. Little more so with the PCS-10.
3. Quick release height adjustment
Again makes things easier. Both stands are easy to keep your bike pretty high when you want it. The PCS-10, this action makes adjustment easier, as the PCS-9 uses a hex key for this action.
4th Little additional stability
Park Tool reinforced center yolk in the PCS-10 for what they say is superior stability and a seal ring to block the folding of legs. This part begins, a little like the bells and whistles feel, but it can not hurt. If they have managed to make the PCS-10 is a little more lighter and more stable, then this is a great selling point.
5. Price
You get what you naturally and The PCS-10 cost a little more pay. Not much, but if your tight budget then the primary reason for the PCS-9 would be obtained. If your wind on whether the couple Dollars to pay extra, do not bother too much like the PCS-9 is a good sturdy tripod. Otherwise, the PCS-10 is a better and updated bicycle repair stand of the two options.
