Bike Frame Building

Building a Custom Chopper, so you want to do?
by Ian Parish
So you are planning to build a Custom Chopper? I also know, that is the first question, which I is where to start. Should I write a business plan, a timetable, a financial statement, or should I just buy my wife some flowers and blindly before? I think I should do all of the above but not necessarily in that order.
I will try to do this by buying and / or seek to, this I will begin to show a list of my reasons? 1) I want a separate chopper ride, scaring an extended totally cool, spitting, gas, food, pavement pounding, old lady, 2-wheel monsters. 2) I be able to say that "I built that " if someone asks me where I totally sick bike. 3) I would like to may be able to adapt the bike to get the standard add on parts I need for my current bike is a Harley Davidson Fatboy. 4) I want to be able to make this dream come true be, which means I have to pay to be in a position for it. A $ 35,000 chopper is out of my current budget. 5) I've talked about it for 5 years so why don 'T I get it and stop talking and start all new buildings.
Now I have a few reasons on paper one will look at my options, then make a plan, a timetable, and find some extra money.
Let 's start with one of my build options, and plan a slow and steady Approach. I know I need to do a lot of research before I begin. I have 4 basic options, a kit bike, a rolling chassis to build a start from zero, or an Extreme Makeover of a recent motorcycle.
Option 1) When I use a bike I Kit may be the most forward starting from a mechanical perspective and on furthest behind in financial terms. What I mean is, a kit bike, all parts is all it takes is paint, labor, gas, oil and a little love. The problem with a complete set bike cost me $ 12,000 U.S. dollars in front. This is a bit out of my spending a lot of money not now be possible to ride a bike for a year or two thinking. If I buy a kit, I might be able to it together quicker than I will be motivated and have all the parts ready to go. As the first bike I think that's a very good Option when you consider all the expensive mistakes that I can along Sun A disadvantage of this option is the amount of customization I can do with the bike as it put together is. Since all parts are in the package, I can not resist the urge to get new bars or other sheet metal or other parts.
Option 2) Start with a rolling chassis, that's the middle of the road option to spend a lump sum of money, over 1 / 2, which costs the whole bike and get a basic setup, all of which work.
A rolling chassis kit consists of a frame, 2 wheels, the fork and triple clamps and bars, all to build and can be configured together to . Work Add a motor and gearbox and all the important processes of the motorcycle are available. This design eliminates some of the most important work needed to mix and match game these concepts together. This option also allows for a ton of customization in the parts that people see and the parts that a bike it 's giving personality. For I consider this to be considered a very serious option. I want to sit around only 1 / 2 the cost and 1 / 2 parts and dust until I have time to get it together can.
Option 3) Find each part one at a time and build a complete custom motorcycle. I want to know I could do that, but I also know I more unexpected and potentially expensive problems with this type of encounter to build. This option would give me a bike that no one ever duplicate. This could very well be or could be very bad. What if some of the possible combination of chassis, engine, fork, wheels and didn 't together? It would be discovered when the Motorcycle everything was together. I think this option is better, the serious professional who build bike all night long, like working on other peoples bikes left, running Company during the day. I can look at this second one for my custom chopper.
Option 4) Take an existing bike and start to cut and change. This is creating perhaps as involved as hacking and re-welding the frame and a new rake angles. Or it could mean just a new framework and with the engine, Transmission, and various other part of building a new machine. I like the idea, and I think it would be a cost effective alternative to custom, all new parts. This option can also keep the current registration and title, if the frame is not replaced. This is also a cheaper option, because many re-used, the various parts can be.
I know that can build on one side, all possible combinations of Custom Chopper 't fully explained, I hope only that this information will do something with and build on it. It has me at the controls in the direction of a rolling chassis, so I better buy.
